Re: [HumJanenge] what is going on in the RTI world?

It is truly disgusting to observe accusations and defamatory statements being made against Sucheta Dalal , Shailesh Gandhi and a few others. I know Sucheta Dalal and Shailesh Gandhi personally and they do not need clearance certificates from any one of their committment and integrity.

Instead of a focussed approach to network for a stronger implementation of the RTI , there are some who out to create  confusion in the ranks of activists. Let us not get hassled by them but just ignore them.

Please remove my name from the humjanenge googlegroups.

What on earth is going on???? they are now filing defamatory stuff against me. I have never posted anything as mentioned by Ashish Kumar> And who is this Raminder ... will someone from the RTI groups please explain what is going on here?

I don't even want to be part of these groups. I was part of Mahadhikar and Humjanenge when Kewal Semlani and Prakash Kardelay were alive. If anybody follows the groups, you would know that I never ever post.

I have only reacted becuase I have been put on the googlegroup without my consent and was bombarded with email from them.

Re: [HummJanenge] Sucheta Dalal's email

Friends

Speaking as somebody in the media, it is clear to everyone that Indian media is riddled with corruption. Journos who get freebies and junkets to write slanted stories. Vir Sanghvis who promise something to 1 industrialist's lobbyist over breakfast then take money from his brother's lobbyist at lunch to write something unpalatable to both. No wonder the man is so fat / gross. The less said about Barkha Dutt the better.

In Sucheta Dalal's case, we have a pillar of the 5th estate who ostensibly writes about stock market manipulations by broker syndicates/ cartels and SEBI's lack of regulation. Who feeds her these stories ? For years Shankar Sharma (First Global) was held up by her as giving 75% good stock tips based on their research. Then she changed her tune when the Tehelka mess began (including Tehelka's unaccounted sources of finance and price rigging). Some days Ms Dalal favours the big bulls, next day she runs down big bears like Nirmal Bang and Anand Rathi. Can we believe her. Someday audio tapes of Mrs
Dalal's conversations with brokers will leak out, or somebody should apply for them in RTI from Income Tax or SEBI.

The final irony is in her threat to use the police to shut down this group.

Ms Sucheta Dalal has posted an email to some RTI groups with the title
"Re: Serious privacy breach by IC A.Dixit".

In her email she asserts that she is a friend of Central Information
Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi. But more importantly she attempts to
divert attention from the list of 40 names in the CIC proposed for the
5th RTI convention by the then CIC Wajahat Habibullah. Mr Habibullah
must explain why these names were posted to CIC website in
IC.Annapurna Dixit's name under "CIC Orders".

Let us have a few (say 1 from 2) of these.controversial names

1. Mr Jean Dreze
2. Dr Subir Gokarn
3. Prof Kaushik Basu
4. Mr Anand Mahindra
5. Mr Yogi Deveshwar
6. Mr Ratan Tata
7. Mr Mukesh Ambani
8. Mr O.P.Bhatt
9. Mr Gajendra Haldea
10. Mr S.K.Roongta
11. Mr N.R.Narayanmurthy
12. Mr Azim Premji
13. Mr Kumarmangalam Birla
14. Mr Rahul Gandhi
15. Ms Brinda Karat
16. Mr Arun Shourie
17. Smt Kanimozhi
18. Mr Vinod Mehta
19. Ms Shabana Azmi
20. Ms Nalini Singh

Can Smt Dalal identify even 1 clean person in this shortlist, which
lists people very well known to her personally, from the
"politician-media--industrialist nexus" lobby which Habibullah
repeatedly drags into the CIC  If not then why is she so quick to
divert attention from these names ? Considering her open friendship
with Shailesh perhaps Ms Dalal's name would be proposed to be a
speaker at the 6th RTI convention, right up there with Nira Radia's.
