MEA Evades RTI Questions Despite CIC Order

New Delhi: In an attempt to evade the order of the Central Information Commission (CIC) to provide details of all correspondence exchanged between the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the Bhopal gas catastrophe, the MEA once again did not supply the information sought and only provided the details of the case proceedings.

BeyondHeadlines had requested the MEA to provide copies of all correspondence exchanged between the ministry and the CBI on the controversial case relating to the Bhopal gas tragedy under the Right to information Act (RTI)....................

Appeal to Bring Media Houses under RTI

 

Defence minister AK Antony said a few days back that the country is passing through a "transparency revolution" and the society is not ready for this transition.

He said the transition to this transparency revolution is facing "problems" as "India is not ready as Indian politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, journalists, armed forces and all those who are holding key positions are not ready for this transition that is why there are problems."................

Self-Righteousness Activists Should Also Look Within

In context to Anna Hazare's campaign for Jan Lokpal Bill, as well as Baba Ramdev's campaign for bringing back money stashed abroad,  I have been wondering if self-righteous "civil society" activists even care to look within.

In recent years, I have been visiting several municipal offices, government offices, police stations, State Information Commissions and other departments to collect information under RTI Act, or file complaints and hold meetings...............
