Re: FW: [HumJanenge] Request telecasting of proceedings of Standing Committee on Jan Lokpal Bill

Just two points (1) every bill must be in public domain for ""we the people"" to see whats been debated for us. people should be able to send comments to standing committes and to see that those views were taken into account. every standing committee should advertise about the proposed bill and invite suggestion from the people. thereafter  all deliberations must be recorded, till live telecast is done, since its said its mini parliament, for people to know who said what. (2) Similarly in all the court of supreme courts all proceedings must be recorded (audio/video), if not televised live,  for people to know how a judgement was arrived, whether he/she applied the mind. Its seen some SC judges behave like a dictator and decide case without basing it on the written law by just saying DISMISSED or NO MERIT with writtin a single reason for that. its most important because there after one can only appeal to The GOD and continue suffering for wrong/bad judgement.  judges are not appointed to create law, they are there to decide case on the basis of existing law, whether personally like it or not. They may only declare a law unconstitutional, if the law is not as per the Constitution of India.

Dear Friends

1. Standing Committee must give serious thoutht to all drafts ,Memos and suggetions received to them

2. It is very much immaterial, the proccedings of SC are telecast or not

3. No body can say or demand that only mine or only our view points must be incorporate in the final bill ,

4 Not even Team Anna or Aruna Roy Team Oor Dr J,P.Narayan team

5. No doubt Anna`s agitation has ignited emotions of common Indians because every one is facing the problem of corrruption in every day life

6. So Anna became the symbol of the  sentiments of the common people

7. Anna Team must go to the . roots of the corruption.........at policy level................at non implimentation of present legislations........nexus of officials and elected reps... ..corruptions in PDS , NREGA ,and several schems for Dalit/ Adiwasis/ Women/ etc

8. Anna Team must be all inclusive, must have reps from all social grs. and communitires

9. Must have faith in democratic decision making

10. Must adhere constitutional values .........

Either we say that the MPs are serious or they are not. If they are just loudmouth, self servers, corrupt publicity seekers, then they will be same as in Parliament.
Standing committee is of just 31 members.
They will display all the above mentioned vices if the standing committee debates are televised as they would want to score brownie points over each other.
Moreover, I do not understand, how gheraoing the MPs and coercing them to accept the Jan Lokpal Bill is a Gandhian way, democratic way or even civil way.
This was the method used by the Nazi Youth Volunteers to terrorize the political opponents.
Either we say that the Anna movement is Gandhian and behave accordingly or say that we appreciate Hitler's methods more than that of Gandhi.
The least expectation from the super-moralists like Anna followers is honesty. Given their performance, nobody expects modesty from them.

       Deaer Sir,
Do you mean to say that they discuss seriously all the issues coming to them, when in Canmera (that is not on TV)?

Standing committee proceedings ahold not be televised because like you I too do not trust the members of parliament. The will try to play for the gallery and drown the seriousness of the debate.

If bigger parliament can be seen debating bills live, then   why not the so called small parliament(standing committee), the public will know who is for and aginst bill being debated. beniwal

I fully agree with the view expressed by Sri Singhal that the proceedings of the Standing Committee be televiesed so that the public may be aware of the views expressed by the members of the Committee.

Dear All,
In the interest of transparency and accountbility, govt had decided to telecast proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and started even seperate TV channels for the purpose. Standing Committees formed by Parliament are said to be mini parliaments to review in details the various bills referred to them before being passed by the parliament. Their proceedings are therefore as important for the people as the proceedings of the parliament itself. I do not know why are the proceedings of Standing Committees not being televised.

I suggest that people's pressure should be built up on the govt to start televising the proceedings of all Standing Committees to enable us, the people, to know the views of the various members/parties on various bills being considered by them.
The proceedings of the Standing Committee currently considering Jan Lokpal Bill must start being televised immediately. Your reactions and appropriate action at your end is requested.
