There is Power Vested with the PIO to Strecth nor to Drag . Otherwise Interpretations Will Not be real but contrived . Think of the information which is Required to be Put on WWW as per another Important section in The same act .Is it Not available in shangai , Illinois or timbuctoo. Therefore there is absolutely no Justification for The PIO to Ask This Proof and it is not at all Backed up by any rules regulations Instructions Memo , Circulars Notifications , file notes Nor powers . Further The PIO is not at Provider of information , He is Basically custodian of information Of the citizens in his due and regular Job as per His Job chart and Parting it by Procedure as in RTI Act or Any Other act Applicable Does not enable him to call for or demand Such proofs . Let us Be Firm about this interpretation and allow these Busy Bodies to Raise Queries Back on us . Though as per section 6 it is not required, I provided copy of my driving license. I am enclosing copy of letter for information of all.   The gist of letter is as followes:   I quote:   In compliance with Sec 3 of Right to Information Act 2005, we request you to kindly send us the proof for citizenship like a copy of Election Identity Card, or a copy of tje Passport issued by Govt. of India or any document duly attested by a Notory Public / Executive magistrate to eable us to procede further.   Unquote.   I have sought information from many Cental Government Department, State Government Departments, and Public Sector Undertaking etc and so for none .have asked for proof of my Citizenship.
