[HumJanenge] Draft NTP 2011 - RTB, NBP and NEGP to Strengthen RTI Delivery

Dear all,

Just want to share with all the members some interesting developments on National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2011.

RTI is one very big achievement, thanks to relentless battle by all its protagonists. The next step waiting in the wings is to strengthen the delivery of RTI.

A few key proposals like Right To Broadband (RTB), National Broadband Plan (NBP), National E Governance Plan (NEGP) have now found their place in Draft NTP 2011. These proposals when implemented would strengthen the delivery of RTI. By strengthening the delivery of RTI, it is meant that timeliness, accuracy, desired and appropriate format, media type and accountability issues are taken care of speedily. This is the power of Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT).

KTMT has been contributing towards these proposals since Jan 2010 as we realized that ubiquitous deployment of TMT solutions in the country across all sectors alone can help us catch up rapidly with developed countries and achieve GDP growth which is by and large free from corruption. Let's keep in mind, 12th plan has a financial outlay of a trillion USD, a mind boggling sum which must be handled with total transparency.  Of course there is a long way to go and the journey has just begun.

"As shared wireless access of 3G/4G can never beat fiber/HFC networks in the streaming of  multi megabits data, a unique ultra low cost model is poised to turn around the communications services. Many telecom companies are targeting to serve digitalized societies by offering multi play@ of voice, broadband, on demand GDP growth driving apps/TV, mobile and fixed mobile convergence services for their daily  business, work, location, social, entertainment, security and governance needs."
