Sarabjit ji is right. That is providing everyone is following rules. This brings us to countries in which laws are implemented and followed. Most of the UAE is one. Wonder why. And even unruly indians are so work oriented and helpful there.

When a vehicle in front brakes suddenly (say a cow or child comes
running onto the road) it does not mean that the vehicle behind it
must do so too. It means that such vehicle must decelerate in a
fashion to avoid accident to vehicles in front of or behind it.

If one is driving at 60 kmph, a minimum of 8 car lengths should be
kept between vehicles. At 80- kmph 12 car lengths. If the driver is
older (more reaction time) 2 additional car lengths should be added.
These are the recommended MINIMUM values.
