The latest international trends are actually the exact opposite of what you are suggesting.

Governments and State-police are getting increasingly repressive by the day. A study by Google says that India is the world's 3rd most intrusive govt when it comes to snooping on its citizens internet privacy.

The US Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the right to Freedom of Speech (1st Amendment) emphatically includes the right to anonymous free speech.

Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority. . . . The riseup.net resources IAC uses and proposes to expand on further has many tools for anonymising users. We should use them.

The moderators must also look beyond the identity of the contributors and look at the content of what is submitted.  Many public servants/Govt officers on our list are reluctant to contribute openly because of CC/CCS rules. At Humjanenge we had always allowed and encouraged pseudonymous accounts for them In fact they are some of our most valued contributors.

I would welcome the day when each and every member of this list communicates using an anonymous and untraceable identity
