Re: [IAC++] "Govt plans own channel, real autonomy for Doordarshan" - Let the work speak for itself. No need for Govt Propaganda through TV.

Nehruvians and their stooges want land side publicity free of charge. They are not satisfied with the limited publicity being given by various channels on under-table payments. They want the 400 lakhs crores rupees black-red money deposited in foreign banks should not get reduced. It should always remain on an increase.

Doordarshan was a Govt Channel and continues to be so for all pracical purposes though transformed now into a sso called autonomous channel. Why this show of autonomy. Now Govt wants to start its own channel by spending crores of rupees. Simpler way would be to remove the autonomy tag from Doordarshan. Even now the funds are coming from the Govt.

Govt plans own channel, real autonomy for Doordarshan

Dec 16, 2012, 04.50AM IST TNNHimanshi Dhawan ]

I&B ministry was looking to recast Prasar Bharati as a financially autonomous public service broadcaster.
NEW DELHI: The information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry has asked regulator Trai for a review of the policy which disallows government ownership of television channels. This letter to the regulator is seen as a precursor to the Centre launching a TV channel of its own.

On November 30, I&B secretary Uday Kumar Varma wrote to Trai chairman Rahul Khullar asking him "to kindly provide your recommendations as to whether the following may be allowed" in broadcasting: central and state government ministries and departments, state-owned companies, undertakings and joint ventures.

Varma cited the instances of the governments of Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and the Union HRD ministry seeking permission to operate and distribute their TV channels which the I&B ministry has turned down because the current policy doesn't allow government presence in broadcasting.

Sources in the ministry said Doordarshan was allowed because it was ostensibly run by an autonomous body, Prasar Bharati. They also said that it was a question of time before Prasar Bharati is likely to be asked to raise and manage its own finances and that would automatically lead to the public broadcaster asserting its autonomy.

It's in this context that the government's letter seeking Trai's views on government presence in broadcasting acquires significance. Incidentally, Doordarshan enjoys 92% coverage of the country through its terrestrial network with a viewership of about 2.5 crore people.

Not just TV channels, the government is also keen on having a presence in print and radio too. There is urgency to the move in view of elections in 2014 when the government having its own media would be undoubtedly helpful.

While the Punjab government sought permission for its own TV channel, the Gujarat government and HRD ministry sought the I&B ministry's nod to set up educational channels on their own DTH platforms.

90% of I&B funds spent on Prasar Bharati

Sources said that the I&B ministry was looking to recast Prasar Bharati as a financially autonomous public service broadcaster like the BBC with independent sources of funding like licence fees, commercial programming and ads.

At present 90% of the ministry's fund is spent on funding Prasar Bharati's operations. I&B minister Manish Tewari is said to have discussed the issue with senior memeber of the government. "Why should there be a veil of hypocrisy in running one's own channel or paper? If there are 800 TV channels, allowing 30 more will only be a drop in the ocean. If there are 3,000 radio stations, there can be space for 30 more, and the same is true for papers," the sources said.

RE: [IAC++] Anna Hazare is himself his own biggest enemy

Thanks to Mr.Roy's incoherent and intemperate outbursts we have digressed from our main theme that is fight against corruption. How ever since the 'politically much abused" word secularism has been brought in,I would like to put in two words.

Compared to the principles of 'true path' and other concepts of 'intolerance of other faiths' practiced by semitic religeons,Hinduism is basically secular. So ingrained is this Hindu concept of secularism in our national culture that it did not even occur to the architects of our Constitution that they should specially mention it as one of its preambulary principles. It is only during the anti-democratic Emergency rule (1975–77) imposed by Indira Gandhi that secularism found a place in the Constitution through the route of amendment without any discussion in Parliament.(opposition leaders were in jail). As every one knows Indira Gandhi was not burdened by any priniciple either personally, ideologically or otherwise. Unfortunately those leaders who chartered our destiny after our independence had their owm version of secularism.Nehru's secularism was based on atheism where as her daughter's was based on vote bank and minorityism which her followers are following even today. it is being interpreted and practiced in terms that negate the essential cultural and civilisational personality of India. In the context of the Ayodhya movement, Lord Ram and Babur were sought to be equated in the name of secularism.

Medieval India was an Islamic empire where Muslims were rulers and Hindus the ruled. Never equals. It was the relation between a master and his slave, the predator and the prey. Hindus were disunited and timid to put up any real resistance. Many of them became collaborators for small favors. Yet the Congress appointed Press Council Chairman,Ex Justice Katju says Hindu-Muslim strife started after the arrival of the British. Whatever the so called 'patriotic' historians may write, 1857 rebellion was a revolt of the 'coolie army' of the East India Company against their masters. The rudderless rebels went to Delhi and tried to resurrect the descendents of the Hindu biter Aurangzeb and make a senile Bahdur Shah Zafar as India's Emperor. It was the British who saved Hindus from slavery and gave a level ground for them to develop their natural intellectual genius. If Turks, Afghans or Persians were ruling India, Mahatma Gandhi would not have survived even one day.Our Ex.Lordship's knowledge of Indian history requires brushing up.

If 1857 revolt was successful, India would have been another Middle east with squabbling and corrupt Sheikhs and their duffedars.

History is a sacred relic and any attempt to paint over it, is immoral to say the least. And that is what Nehru and Indira Gandhi were doing stuffing ICHR with characters like Romila Thapar,Irfan Habib,KN Panikkar and others.

Dear Mr. Navnith

This is "India Against Corruption". The keyword is INDIA. The "India" that is not your warped idea of "Bharat-matatvata".

This list is for nationalists and patriots who are fed up with the corruption in India (
which is not Bharat - but is really Hindustan !!).

If you cannot understand such basic and elementary things you are most welcome to leave (also known as F***ing Off) the IAC and hie off to nakli forums for hijdas like the AAP. Every message from this group instructs pseudo-secularists how to do so at the very bottom.

It is a fact that Anna is massively foreign financed  I don't say so, he himself says on on his website.

It is a fact that Arvind is massively foreign financed. He has never denied it. His own audited account books and reports proudly flutter this message that he received foreign funds in large amounts.. The same is the case for Kiran Bedi. Only recently it again came out in the media that she controlled at least 15 banks accounts and has regular withdrawals of foreign funds for her NGOs. It also came out that foreignfunds were being misused for personal expenses of these ex-IAC leaders.

Please understand very clearly that PATRIOTS like us will never accept dubious arguments from HARAMIS (possibly like you) that its all very well to take foreign funds to do "good" work in India (also known as conversion of Dalits to Christianity or Islam) .  This is the height of nonsense and stupidity.  HE WHO PAYS THE PIPER CALLS THE TUNE. .. translated in Hindi .. 'naach meri bulbul tujhe paise milega'

In any case what have Arvind etc. actually done to curb corruption.  Let me tell you. ... Nothing !!! (merely publicising incidents of corruption which were known to everybody for years is not corruption fighting).

Let me also tell you this.
Certain depts of the Govt were investigating Robert Vadra and tapping his phones and investigating his deals for a long time. They were doing this on the direct instructions of Sonia Gandhi herself who was very concerned about her son-in-law and his political ambitions through "Priyanka- now-not-a-Ghandhi" (who is the natural counter-point in Congress to the crown prince Rahul who has no charisma at all.)

The entire Robert-Vadra-DLF so-called expose was a Congress stunt using Kejriwal who is still controlled by Christian Sonia through Christian Aruna Roy (forgot what Christian Diggy says in public - that is only a nautanki) to cut Christian Priyanaka and Christian Robert down to size so that super-Christian Rahul can do "son-shine" as Christian  General Secretary in Christian AICC with Christian Anthony and Christian Ambika and Christian YSR  and Hindu Francois Gautier and Jean Dreze  and so on .

The entire IAC act of Anna, Arvind, Kiran Bedi, Bhushans is scripted between the Congress and RSS who have formed an axis against the BJPand the Left.

In other words, Christian America is p(l)aying all sides and Godless China is laughing for free.

Calling Anna a parasite is the height of stupidity. What ever the faults of Anna,Kejriwal and others, next to Subrahmaniam Swamy, they are the people who have done yeoman service in breinging to public attention the loot being carried out by the Italian led Congress and their henchmen.

You should abstain from commenting on people like Gen.V.K.Singh whom you do not know.I write this as an Ex-Army Officer. You are unaware of the level of corruption in the Army. The 'syndicate' started functioning from Gen.JJ Singh's time and continued with Gen Deepak Kapoor. They did not want any body other than from their syndicate to become the Chief to safe guard their interests .Gen.V.K.Singh was an eyesore for trhem. They tried to remove him from the hierarchial list forcing him to agree 1950 as his YOB(another brilliant officer who was much younger and  a Sword of Honour winner was superceded to pave way for the present chief).VK is a third generation soldier.Born to a Lt.Col and born in an Army Hospital ,how can there be a controversy about his YOB?The unfortunate part is that he did not get support from ;St.Antony',the so called incorruptible Defence Minister.People did not kbow that Antony is only bothered about his reputation and what his subordinates do is not his concern. He was one of the weakest CMs Kerala has ever seen.During his tenureship as CM,Kerala,he completely surrendered to the communal Muslim League and Christian Kerala Congress. In the ensuing elections Congress lost every parliament seat.Sonia took him to Delhi because of his religion, his cleverly manipulated image of honesty  and his mask of lack of ambition.

The army shortages did not start with VK.It was there when JJ was there as well as Kapoor.Your calling Ex-Admirals dubious characters shows your immaturity.

I am getting a torrent of condemnable messages from you. By your irresponsible comments you are doing a great disservice to the fight against corruption.

I would like to delink my self from this mail list.If you can do it kindly do it.

Re: [IAC++] Amazon shows :How FDI will raise prices by 10 times.

Sarbajit,
It would be incorrect to directly convert the currency at market exchange rates. You need to use purchasing power parity or PPP rates which for India /US is done by a factor of 3. In other words the cost of the item is actually about Rs 80 which includes shipping which does not seem excessive. Who needs a banana cutter anyway. The same mistake is made by most people while assessing the poverty line. The UNDP poverty line is $1.25 per capita per day. Most people assume that this is about Rs 60 per day which is incorrect. It is actually Rs 20 per day. So the planning Commission figure of Rs 26 per day in rural areas is actually an improvement on the UNDP poverty line. Col Pavan Nair

  1. As HC Judge, who was expected to protect the Fundamental Rights of the Citizens, whether he considered "Discretionary Quota" legal and non-violative of the Right to Equality - Universal Fundamental Right when his daughter reportedly got admission to MBBS?

  2. Why he knowingly allowed "Discretionary Quota" MBBS seat for his undeserving daughter encroaching upon the legitimate right of some other meritorious student?

Complaint against one judge said daughter took Tata quota seat for MBBS 12 years ago

SC

Ajmer Singh

Shortly before the Supreme Court collegium cleared the appointment of Madras High Court Chief Justice

M Y Eqbal to the Supreme Court, a retired principal of a Jharkhand medical college had complained to the President and Prime Minister that corporate house Tata nominated Justice Eqbal's daughter for a discretionary quota seat in a medical college 12 years ago.

The complainant, Rai Sudhir Prasad, admits that Justice Eqbal had passed "adverse remarks" against him in a case 15 years ago. Calling this a "motivated complaint," Justice Eqbal told The Sunday Express that the Chief Justice of India has rejected it.

Justice Eqbal became a judge of Patna High Court in May, 1996 and, after the formation of Jharkhand, became a judge of Jharkhand High Court in November 2000. He became Chief Justice of the Madras High Court in June, 2010.

In his complaint, Prasad, former principal and medical superintendent of the Patliputra Medical College & Hospital in Dhanbad, asked the President and Prime Minister to "keep his (Justice Eqbal's) elevation as SC judge in abeyance". He wrote to them in September.

He said the judge's daughter, Sadaf Khan, filled an MBBS seat allotted to TISCO at the MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur.

Under an arrangement with the Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur, students of the MGM Medical College used to train at the TMH. In return, TISCO was allowed to recommend four students for discretionary seats at MGM Medical College — this quota no longer exists.

Sadaf Khan's name figured in a letter J J Irani, the then managing director of TISCO, sent to the Bihar government on December 11, 2000, listing nominees for TISCO seats at the medical college.

When his comments were sought, Justice Eqbal acknowledged that his daughter's case was recommended by the Tatas as per existing norms.

"There was a provision where people could be accommodated against reserved seats. My daughter had scored well, qualified also but could not make it to the list. So she was adjusted against a reserved seat," Justice Eqbal said.

"I didn't go to them seeking a favour. I didn't go to Tatas or JJ Irani. I never met him. There was a provision against which she was adjusted."

On Prasad's complaint, Justice Eqbal said: "This is an attempt to malign me and the CJI is well aware of this. He has rejected this complaint. This is a motivated complaint and the complainant may have been aggrieved by my orders."

When asked about this, Prasad admitted that the single bench of Justice Eqbal had passed "certain adverse remarks" against him in a 1997 writ petition concerning posting of a subordinate doctor to Dhanbad Medical College.

Tata Steel spokesperson Charudatta Deshpande said: "This is an old matter. As far as we can recollect, admission to Ms Sadaf Khan was given at the request of the then Bihar government against the reserved seats in the MGM Medical College."

When contacted, Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar said: "This is something I have only heard about but not dealt with or checked. So many such complaints against judges land up with the government but their scrutiny and establishing veracity and the whole process of selection of judges is the exclusive domain of the collegium and not the government or the law ministry."

Dear Mr Kunnathoor,

Ref yr 2 emails (1 of which is circulated)

You raised certain questions, replied briefly below

IAC = India Against Corruption.
IAC = a national movement.
IAC = not a political party
IAC = democratic, no high commands
IAC = direct democracy

Please read the updated IAC rules, which I have circulated for your benefit and which will explain more fully why "IAC is HRA" and "I am not Anna".

Re: [IAC++] Anna Hazare is himself his own biggest enemy

It is counterproductive for the uninvolved citizens to question the character of anti-corruption people.
There is 'dirt' all over the place and the first prority is to locate it; there is then a good chance to get it thrown out and get the place cleaned.
If two sets of people fight and expose each others' corruption, the common man can only gain.
If some one comes and undertakes  to clean up the entire place, let us not insist that he be absolutely clean. This is like Jesus Christ asking that only the person who has not sinned should throw the first stone. We will then stay rotting where we are.
Be tolerant of the suspected sins of the vigilantes and let the dirt of every one come out.
The public at large, keep quiet and watch. By blaming Anna and the rest of them at  this stage, we will come in their way and only hurt ourselves.

How does it matter if some people in the team are not clean, so long as they show us where else the dirt is?

Thirdly, instead of using your present email ID, why don't you use your other ID "<irpl.india@gmail.com> (Indiana Rubbers and Plastics) where you go by the name of Surendra Malhotra blogging stuff like this.

Fourthly, IAC is now an apolitical forum.

Fifthly, and since you have dragged the name of Gen V.K.Singh into this dialog, let me tell you there is a considerable section of serving Army officers who are most unhappy with Gen Singh's tenure, for in the name of "corruption" he allegedly held up numerous purchase files resulting in a situation that the Army is grossly under-equipped and not in a position today to fight Pakistan let alone China.  Gen V.K. Singh's bonafides must be established over time and with full disclosures by the Army.  In any case gen Singh has breached the line by dabbling in politics along with such dubious persons like Admirals Ramdass and Tahiliani.

Re: [IAC++] Mr Justice Altamas Kabir Hon'ble Chief Justice of India may like to ask Mr Justice M Y Eqbal few pertinent questions on "Discretionary Quota"...

It is interesting.
1. Will Honble CJI consider this as PIL?
2  Is father responsible?
3. Will reserved quota come in this category as many deserving are deprived.
4  Did daughter pass out using Tata Quota  or had to say Tata By the Way?
5. What will happen to the poor patients?
I am just curious to know how Justice works.

Complaint against one judge said daughter took Tata quota seat for MBBS 12 years ago

In this regard, you may like to ask Mr Justice M Y Eqbal few pertinent questions:

  3. In the event of these types of cases of "Discretionary Quota" coming up before him to adjudicate, what will be his stand?

Complaint against one judge said daughter took Tata quota seat for MBBS 12 years ago

Ms Himanshi Dhawan,

Let the work done by the Governments speak for itself.

There is no need to waste public money in showing their faces on Govt TV and doing propaganda to mis-inform the people whether by the Center or by the States.

You know nothing about the hisstory of Islam in India. Islam had been in India since 800 AD and very much before the Babar who conqered India in 1500 or so maybe. Even before that for 300 years Muslims kings were ruling the India. since 1200.  Why you had forgoten loddhis, Sayyids, Khaljis, Tughlaqs etc  How about the Mahmoud of Ghori ? You can keep imagineing that Muslims rules in India only starts with Babar. You can keep talking language of your Mahatma Gandhi and  keep it up your ghand-i.
