Re: [IAC#RG] INDIAN ANTI CORRUPTION MOVEMENT YET TO MAKE IMPACT

Dear Shri Venkatraman,

We said Sir.  If you happened to see my emails to IAC, I have appealed the same Message to all the Followers of IAC.  " NEVER GIVE NOR TAKE BRIBE - MEMBER IAC"All the Members of IAC should wear a batch with the above slogan in their Shirt in a very conspicuous place and also put this slogan on their table in the office.  In 2011, I applied for Death Certificate of my Mother.  As per the Messages mentioned in the Tahsildar Office, Ashok Nagar, Chennai, the Death Certificate will be issued within 15 days after verification.  But, the verification took place after 3 months of my repeated follow up. Even after the verification, the DC was not issued.  I frequently visited the Tahsildar Office and met all concerned viz., The Dy. Tahsildar, Headquarters Tahsildar, Special Tahsildar and No.1 in the Tahsildar Office who is responsible for issuing DC.  Everytime, they were giving some excuses. Some of my friends suggested to me to pay a Bribe of Rs.5000/  to the Revenue Inspector and in no time, you will get the DC.  I said NO and said, let me wait and see when they issue the DC.  After verification, the DC can be issued maximum within a week.  They were giving excuses, the verification papers are missing.  The RI who verified is transferred.  No RI is posted. Like that it want on for more than a year.  Even though, I needed the DC immediately to transfer a property which was sold by her before her death, I decided not to get the DC on paying bribe.  Then after repeated follow ups for more than a year,   when I was about to file a case in the Consumer Court and  send a letter under RTI Act, finally the DC was issued after one year. I don't know how many people will do like that.  If atleast the Members of IAC practice this in their office, some kind of awareness will emerge.  Not that everybody is corrupt.  There are some since, committed and honest people in various offices.  They do their job without expecting/taking bribe.  But, there are people below and above him who have final say on such matters and are corrupt.  I was working in IndianOil  as an Officer connected with Marketing of Indane Gas.  LPG always in demand due to short supply.  As the Domestic LPG is highly subsidized, there are lot of Rules and Regulations to stop the misuse.  But the people who are in the waiting list for New Gas Connections, Transfer from one place to another (Kashmir to Kanyakumari), connections availed at Hill Stations (which cannot be transferred at all) and Military Canteens (which can be transferred only to their family on transfer from Field Areas to Peace Areas or where their Family resides as per the Orders of Appropriate Authorities in the Military)    which cannot be done without proper verification due to innumerable Fake Vouchers in circulation bought by the gullible public, out of turn on refill supplies, diversion of domestic refills to Non-Domestic uses viz., Hotels, Caterers, Welders etc., etc  there will be lot of opportunities for the Officer wooing with bribe to short circuit the process by bribe.  But most of us will not succumb to pressures and never take any hasty decision by corrupt means.  In the process, people may suffer.  But, we cannot help it.  At the same, we will certainly come to the rescue of  genuine people without undue delay. What I want to convey, atleast the IAC Members who works in various offices should follow the ideals of 'NEITHER GIVE NOR TAKE BRIBE'" policy which will go a long way in eradicating the cancerous disease of Corruption.  It is a Million Dollar Question, how many people will come forward to follow this ideal.

By the by, Are you the  N.S. Venkatraman, Retired as General Manager, IndianOil.  If so, you may be remembering me, I worked at Lube Blending Plant at Tondiarpet, Chennai when you joined Drum Plant during 1970-71.

With Best Regards,
A.S.KALYANAM
Retd. MANAGER (LPG SALES) INDIANOIL, TNSO, SR.
