Re: [IAC#RG] Corruption in recruitment of Assistant Professor at Jiwaji University

Dear Mr Kumar,
Thanks for your response which I appreciate. You have accepted that hunger and poverty is mainly on account of corruption and poor governance. You are correct. But surely most of the corrupt are hindus since hindus are the majority. That is where the argument started. Pavan Nair

Hunger and poverty in the Country is due to misgovernance, corruption and greed of those expected to govern the Country. Lakhs of mt. of foodgrains are wasted every year for want of procurement by Govt. agencies like FCI, on the excuse for want of space in godowns!! Sharad Pawar imported shiploads of wheat when all godwons were overflowing and no more wheat could be procured with heavy surplus in harvest- just to get his kick-backs.

FCI godowns are rented out to soft drink storages and food grains are stored in the open, getting wet, rotten and bursting bags, even cattle refusing to eat due to the mould and insects.

When the TV showed thousands of mt. of wheat stored in open in Punjab and getting wet in the rains with over three ft. of water on the ground, Supreme Court ordered the Govt. to distribute the same to poor and the Minister replied laws do not allow to do so. These grains were sold @Rs.5 a Kg. to Cattle-feed manufacturers.

Now, coming to temples giving free feed to anyone coming to worship in the temple. This has been the practice since millenea in all temples as Guruvayur or Tirupathi and even many small temples where rice is cooked with jiggery and given free to the devotees.

But with the Hindu Endowments Act of Nehru Govt. in 1950-s, all temple incomes hitherto run by trusts or religious heads, was taken over by the Govt. and you know how the various dewaswoms in Kerala deposited in State Bank of Travancore are transferred to the Treasury as loan- never to be returned- and used for paying salaries and other Govt. expenditure. In Karnataka, CM Krishna Govt. spent over 50% of collections from temple for Muslim and Christian purposes, 25$ for administrative purposes and only 25% was fed back to temples which cannot be run with this amount, the poojari-s not paid the salaries and many temples closed down.

How do you expect temples to provide free food when all the income is taken away by Govts.?

In Gujarat, things are different and only an officer of the rank of Tahsildar/Dy Collector is placed in the temples run by trusts and the Govt. official is there only to oversee smooth running of the temple and all funds are managed by trusts and hence free food supplied free in almost every temple.

Just a small query. Why is there so much hunger and poverty in our country if the higher castes or rich are so generous? Pavan Nait

Preposterous. Hindu rule of the Country since several millenea has been exemplary and free of corruption, only service oriented.

Typical example is the Travancore dynasty of Kings, who owne the Padmanabhaswamy Temple now found to be the richest temple in the World and the treasury was entrusted to Lord Mahavishnu and the ruler rules the State on behalf of the deity.

All the wealth right from ancient Roman times of Julius Caesar or even earlier, when pepper was weighed against Gold, (proved by sacks full of Roam Gold coins) and all earnings of export of spices like Cardamom, Cloves..etc. were placed at the feet of Lord Padmanabha and there is an understanding that these chests would be opened and used only in case of famine or war to save the people.

Such was the integrity of the people- Hindus.

It is the Muslim invaders and Christian looters from East India Co. that started corruption in the Country to take away the Wealth of the Country. Where is Kohinnor diamond? Peacock throne and thousands of temple artifacts stolen and carted away to Europe latest by SOnia Gandhi to Italy?

Brahmins never craved for wealth.Historically, they were in education and academics and free food as served by the Royalty wherever there was a clustr of Brahmins. Temples gave food free to anyone entering at the specified hours irrespective of Caste or creed. This is Hinduism
