Re: [IAC#RG] Honest Indians : first results of IAC's opinion poll- Change the Question

This one viz
"No where NaMo has campaigned outside Gujarat has it translated into votes - in fact it has led to Congress wins everywhere. NaMo only enjoys a substantial following in his own party,..." appears to be absolutely false. Modi is most popular all over India and also among NRIs all over world.
Now what I feel that if any recognized leader and a party is of the opinion that the statement under inverted comas is true and if it gets proved wrong in reality in time to come, what fate they decides for them.
In fact Anti-BJP-s and Anti-Modi-s are extremely afraid of Modi. This is mainly because Modi is learned, tactful, full of wisdom, orator, honest, determined and he knows how to convert obstructions into opportunity.

Dear Veerendra

">How can you club so many people in one choice? I like one but not the other. What I will do?"

You have answered your own question.

The 3 other people on that list for PM are unquestioned Masters of their own Party. Mr. Modi, however,  is yet to be conferred any leadership status in the BJP. With what face can you even demand that his name be included in a list of prospective PM candidates ? merely because a few students in Noida told you so ?

At the present time Mr. Modi is simply one of many Chief Ministers of India. He is not unique in getting reelected for a 3rd term - Shiela Dixit also has that quality. Raman Singh is likely to achieve the same result in Oct.

No where NaMo has campaigned outside Gujarat has it translated into votes - in fact it has led to Congress wins everywhere. NaMo only enjoys a substantial following in his own party, but BJP's national vote share is only around 20-25% which may get them around 160 seats leaving them open to blackmail if say Jayalalita gets 33 seats (which is her present "satta bazaar" value) and 3rd Front calculations take over.

Finally, do you mean to say that you will vote for BJP only if NaMO is declared their PM candidate but you will not vote for BJP if Rajnath Singh or Sushma Swaraj are declared as its PM candidate ?

If so, I will share a secret, the 2012 Gujarat election results had the overall voting percentage going up from 59% (2007) to 72%(2012). These extra votes came from the URBAN middle-class people (especially youngsters touched by IAC and Anna and "corruption") who never vote and their votes mainly went AGAINST the BJP and FOR the Congress. BJP's vote share went down by 2% and Congress went up by 2%.

This extra vote is a "swing" vote which votes AGAINST the incumbent party. We are now seeing its effect in Karnataka. BJP strategists are using NaMo as a disruptor in States like UP where BJP is weak to try and see that no strong block emerges in any State - for instance if SP gets 60 LS seats in UP then BJP is screwed.

Accordingly, the BJP game plan is simple -  to ensure that its urban vote banks in States like UP, WB, Bihar, TN  etc get concentrated in NaMo and are transferred to the 2nd highest party in those States - if pre-poll seat adjustments don't emerge.  The BJP strategists know that this time putting up BJP candidates in their weak States is going to backfire.

I am sorry Sarbjit.

This not how you frame questions.

Just ask who should be the Next PM.
And give 10 choices separately?

How can you club so many people in one choice? I like one but not the other. What I will do?

Dear Veerendra

Your query is not suitable for conducting a poll. India does not have a US 2-Party system. It has to be put in a multiple choice format.

I also think its unlikely that the NDA (not the same as BJP) is in a position / mood to declare a common PM candidate right now.

I'll frame it another way (since Congress in Mughal fashion leaves PM/CM choice up to High Command to motivate their troops).

Poll question:
"Who should be the NDA's PM candidate ?"

a) Jayalalita (projn 33 LS seats)
b) Mayawati (projn 29 LS sets)
c) Any BJP leader (Narendra Modi, Sushma Swaraj, Raman Singh, Rajnath Singh, Maneka Gandhi, Baba Ramdev, NS Sidhu) (projn 160 LS seats)
d) Nitish Kumar (projn 15 - 27 LS seats)

This should clarify it better and increase the odds strongly in favour of a BJP PM candidate.

Do you agree to this poll ?

Lets have some more suggestions and we'll run it. Or do you want to wait till after May 8th ?

Dear Cmdr Jaitley

A sample size of only 125 students in Noida (western UP) is enough to tell you that there is a wave/tsunami for Narendra Modi all over the country ???

Since I doubt what you say, (my local inputs from Karnataka indicate Congress getting twice as many seats as BJP) why don't you do the basic demographic workup of Uttar Pradesh to explain why BJP vote share in UP has been continually dropping from 39% at its peak to 15% today (As our own little - and much abused - "poll" bears out).

Hi All,

Kindly change the question for the opinion poll:

"Who is the most suitable Indian to be the Prime Minister of India ?"

And then see the result.

Yesterday, I was conducting an 'Inter College Debate Competition' at a university at Noida and about 125+ engineering students from the western part of UP were in the hall. The topic was ' Bhrashtachaar Mukt Bharat ka Nirmaan Sambhav hai'

Speaker after speaker was sad about the state of affairs in our country. Whether 'For' or 'Against' the topic, everyone said there is too much of corruption. The only difference was that those 'For' the topic expressed hope that corruption can be eradicated and they gave a few examples from Bihar, Gujarat and Chatisgarh where some steps have been taken to reduce/remove corruption.
In between, I was making some remarks and at one stage I made a remark that I am happy to see such strong feelings from the youth of the nation against corruption. And now the election for Lok Sabha is due just next year and let us hope that some good, honest and strong person becomes the PM of India and he/she takes India forward to what you call the 'Sone ki Chidiya'. And then I asked a pointed question: By the way, who do you feel should be next PM of India? prompt came the reply 'Narendra Modi' 'Narendra Modi' 'Narendra Modi' 'Narendra Modi' from all direction. There was not even a murmur of any other name.

I was happy inwardly and just continued saying 'Wow!' 'great'. Let us go for the next speaker '......'

This is the voice of India. The only question for which you can have a poll is this 'Whom would you like to see the next PM of India ?' I assure you that the wave has started for NaMo and by the election time it will be Tsunami.

India wants change NOW.
