Re: [IAC#RG] Conference Invite

Hello:
It is very unfortunate that you send this announcement at the end of Feb. How do you expect to submit a good abstract within a week? Most of the International Conferences are organized at least 6 months or a year in advance. If you would be kind to extend the deadline for submission of the abstract until March 10, I might be able to reflect and submit a short abstract.

So, please respond asap.

FIRST HIGH PROFILE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Monday & Tuesday, March 30-31, 2015

Aligarh, India


The CPECAMI is pleased to announce that it will be holding its First High Profile International Conference in Aligarh, India on  March 30-31, 2015.  The main theme of this conference will be "Intellectual Crises of the Muslim Ummah: Rethinking Traditional Solutions".

O
ver 100-150 international experts, religious scholars, public intellectuals, and peace activists are expected to attend this 2-day conclave, from Aligarh and from outside Aligarh, to shed light on the main issues and challenges facing the Ummah today, and to discuss lessons learned from previously though-out solutions. The conference will last two days, and registration is required.  A list of invited speakers, and a more detailed program will be announced by the mid of March.

Paper proposals are invited from prospective participants on the following four broad questions related to the main conference theme.  Papers can be presented either in English or Urdu. Prospective presenters are also welcome to submit papers that fall outside these topics, but must establish their relevance to the broader conference theme:

I. What is Islam and who speaks for it today? An Assessment based on the Quranic Text.

 

II. Is a Unified Islam Possible?

III. Does Islam need a Reform, or we just need new interpreters?
IV. Can Muslims lead a conglomeration of faith communities?  Implications of Kalmae siwa.

Paper proposals (no more than 250 words) are Due by 05 March, 2015 and should be sent in either English or Urdu to:

Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by March 08, 2015.


All participants, panelists, and speakers must cover their own travel expenses. The CEPCAMI will provide accommodation and local hospitality during the conference. Speakers and panelists (only) coming from outside Aligarh will receive a token amount of Rs. 3,000 to 5,000 to help defray travel expenses.
